HIGHLIGHTS
My previous evaluations go into more detail, but here are a few key recent moments in my career.
INSTRUCTION
Instruction is my bread and butter and what everything I do is for; the students. I find creative and engaging ways to present lessons and resources for student success. I challenge my students to push past mediocrity and I model what unapologetic passion for learning looks like. I want my students to see themselves in me, an alumna from this great university. In addition to teaching I support students through creating a student study area in my office. I make sure that I am inclusive and supportive to all by removing barriers for success.
University, Community and Professional Service
In the past I have hosted events, presentations, and workshops for faculty and students. I have also volunteered my time teaching ADP courses and participated in a number of preview days. Recently I was named the inaugural Fellow for Student Engagement and Retention. In this new role I am identifying, creating, and implementing key campus initiatives, as well as developing a continued faculty fellowship program.
Scholarly Endeavors
My scholarly endeavors span across my education, criminal justice, and English backgrounds. I was recently accepted into Theatre Now New York's Musical lab where my musical Green will be developed for production. I am also currently writing a Pilot anime about mental health and poetry, I curate a poetry nerd podcast and performance collective, and I am translating medieval literature into hip-hop. I regularly participate and host writing workshops through Austin Poetry Slam.
Professional development Activities
I have a multitude of professional development experiences in the last ten years that you will see in previous evaluations. I recently attended the UNCF conference in Atlanta as well as the Higher Education Leadership Foundation conference in North Carolina this year.
